Australian Landscape Paintings

Coming from the UK I was particularly drawn to painting the Australian landscape. Not the wild outback plains but my own landscape as a dedicated suburban dweller, the landscape of pools, decks, shade sails and cul-de-sacs. I love picking the detail out of the shadows and the sharp contrast of the object in the fierce Australian sun. These pools and decks seem such a part of the Australian landscape to me and there’s a mundane beauty in them I enjoy elevating and pinning down in paint.
